Future Leaders Roundtable Summer Program

Own Your Career: Tips for Gaining Credibility and Keeping an Eye on Your Future

This summer's Future Leaders Roundtable program is designed for in-house law firm marketing professionals with fewer than 5 years of professional experience, and will provide a peer-to-peer forum for discussing how to navigate through the various challenges we face in our roles as junior marketing professionals and the positive impact we make (and can make) on our firms.

The discussion, while intended to be casual, will be facilitated by Jennifer Johnson, 2008 President of the LMA Metro New York Chapter and VP of Recruitment at Wisnik Career Enterprises.  Jennifer has nearly 10 years experience in helping people guide their careers and will be on-hand to lend an ear and offer advice to help you be the best you can be professionally.  She will also provide time management tips including analyzing your most productive time of day and how to capitalize on that time as well as some goal setting exercises.

Additionally, we will be joined by Chris Hummel, an in-house marketing director, and Barbara Perry, an in-house HR administrator, who will be able to describe their individual career paths and share their professional experiences with the group.  Chris is the Marketing Director at Banner & Witcoff, Ltd. and has over 15 years of marketing experience and 5 years of legal marketing experience.  He currently serves as President-Elect of the Capital Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association.  Barbara is the Office Administrator at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.  She has been with Skadden since 1981, and is an expert in hiring legal professionals and managing law firms.  Both will act as discussion leaders at the event, and will be on-hand to answer any questions you may have.

We want our Summer Program to be both educational and social this year, so we hope that you will stop by after work for beer, wine, snacks and a lively discussion.  This event is open only to members of LMA.

ACTION ITEM:  While the meeting is designed to be a give-and-take discussion, we want to be sure that the issues/topics that are on your mind are addressed.  Our discussion leaders invite you to submit questions in advance of the roundtable – we assure you that these questions will remain completely anonymous and will simply be used to guide the discussion.  Please email the reason why you signed up for this roundtable and what you’re hoping to take away from it by sending a confidential email to: jjohnson@wisnik.com.  We want this session to be valuable for you so please let our discussion leaders know what is on your mind!
